The Golf Courses - Macdonald Portal Golf Holidays

The 18 hole Championship course is a stunning parkland course that has great views across Cheshire’s countryside. The land is a former battlefield and pays homage to this with the opening and closing holes being called Agincourt and Waterloo. Players of all abilities will find this a good test of golf as it works its way around a large section of mature trees and stunning water features. You will see beautiful waterfalls in the several water hazards guarding greens throughout the course. The USGA specification greens are maintained to a great quality and a joy to putt on. A Donald Steel designed that opened for play in 1990. The course is a par 73 that can measure 7,018 yards when played from the white tees. Quite a lengthy course that requires long and accurate shots to finish with a good score.

The Premier course at Macdonald Portal Golf Resort features a great variety of interesting holes with the most intriguing being the Par 3 seventh hole. Which was cut out of a sandstone quarry and has a sharp drop down to the green directly after the tee boxes, the severe change in elevation makes club selection tricky here. Occupying the same plot of land as the Championship course provides the same stunning views across Cheshire. Though the Premier course is a little shorter in length and a touch less difficult than the Championship course. An 18 hole par 71 parkland course that measures 6,517 yards when played from the white tees. A design by Tim Rouse the course opened for play in 1990.
