The Golf Courses - Gleneagles Golf Holidays
The Kings course is a James Braid creation which was designed to test even the best players abilities from it's very conception in 1919 - 5 years before the Gleaneagles Hotel was ready for business. An 18 hole, par 68 heathland course measuring 6,066 yards which has hosted no less than 8 Scottish Opens throughout it's history. Sweeping views of stunning countryside, elevated greens and strategically placed bunkers make this a sublime course to experience.
The Queens course is another of James Braid's master peices which also opened in 1919 and provides textures of true beauty throughout your round as you weave your way through the high ridges on the north and west side of the resort. This 18 hole, par 68 parkland course measuring 5,660 yards requires accurate play to avoid the many ditches, lochans and water hazards scattered throughout the course to test your wit along with your ability.
The PGA Centenary course is a Jack Nicklaus signature golf course which opened in 1993. Since then it has been re-designed by Jack in 2012 to make the course a true great in the game in preparation for the 2014 Ryder Cup, with the course also being due to host the Solheim Cup in 2019. This 18 hole, par 73 heathland course has a great variation of holes and unbelievably scenery, which can measure between 5,000 yard to over 7,000 yards depending on the tee position you are playing from.
The PGA National Academy course is a 9 hole par 3 circuit which has been admiringly nicknamed the "Wee Course" and originally opened in 1928 then underwent a period of re-working in 1974 to add a further 9 holes and create the Prince's course. The former Estate Director James Kidd revived the "Wee Course" as we know it today.
