About the destination
The 4* Vila Gale Marina Hotel has a privileged location on the front of the Vilamoura Marina in the Algarve, Portugal where there are lots of bars, restaurants and night clubs to enjoy. This great package deal includes three rounds of golf at the excellent Quinta do Lago resort, with rounds of golf at Quinta do Lago North, Quinta do Lago South and Quinta do Lago Laranal. Guests at the hotel can enjoy courtesy shuttles to the golf courses.
The hotel has 243 comfortable and spacious rooms and suites that were recently renovated in 2013, with many of the rooms enjoying the sublime views across the marina. Each room features air conditioning, Wi-Fi, TV with Cable channels, mini-bar, hair dryer, complimentary toiletries, 24 hour room service and a kettle upon request.
There is a bar and a restaurant in the hotel to take care of any refreshment or dinning needs you may have. The Golf Courses - Vila Gale Marina Golf Break
The South course at Quinta do Lago is the original layout at the resort having been designed by William Mitchell in 1974. It didn't take long to become recognised as a great course and 2 years later started appearing on the European Tour, having hosted the Portuguese Open on 8 occasions. In 1989 Colin Montgomerie broke the world record here for lowest winning score with 24 strokes under par from 72 holes of golf and a spectacular final round of 63. An 18 hole, par 72 parkland course measuring 7,100 yards from the white tees that rolls through lakes, wild flora and umbrella pines with views of the Ria Formosa National Park.
The North course was originally designed by William Mitchchell, Joseph Lee and Rocky Roquemore in 1989. Having recently benefited in 2014 from a rewarding redesign by Beau Welling and for Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley to the tune of €9 million to become the premier layout at the resort. Four sets of tees have been rolled out on each hole to provide a levelled challenge for players of all abilities. A visually stunning golf course that features undulating greens with strategically placed water hazards and bunkers. An 18 hole, par 72 parkland course that measures 6,700 yards from the white tees.
Laranjal is the newest course at the resort having been opened in 2009 and swiftly won the 2011 Best Golf Course at the Portuguese Travel Awards. An 18 hole, par 72 parkland course designed by Jorge Santana da Silva that measures 7,087 yards from the white tees. There are 5 large lakes and many large bunkers throughout the course to test your accuracy. Established two kilometres outside the Quinta do Lago Resort in the Ludo Valley the course runs through an old orange grove where orange trees can still be seen today amongst the umbrella pines and corn oaks.
